Re: Feghouli will become better.
He didn't deserve to be taken off. His performances are evidently good made clear by the fact that more and more doubters are starting to change there minds. Those stubborn ones will turn when Bilic realises he needs to leave him on for the whole match as one of our few creative weapons should not be hauled off when our dull side offer very little going forward.

Not having him one bit - rather the Malteser start the game.

Re: Feghouli will become better.
He got shut out of the game against chelsea, but I thought he was starting to look a lot better in a couple of the matches prior to that.

At his best, he's tenacious, can get round players, and whips in a good cross. Plus, he's currently the only one of our players who can play a first-time pass. Can't remember who it was we were playing a few weeks back, but I was surprised at how often he played fast first-time passes, a couple from tight situations, and how accurate he was when he did it.

The down side is that he's a bit lightweight, and prone to biting off more than he can chew when it comes to getting past multiple people, when a simple pass after he'd got past the first one would have been a much better option.

Re: Feghouli will become better.
Could be a really good Premier League winger. He's not Cristiano Ronaldo. That's why he's playing for us and not some European giant.

Could we do better? Yes, probably. But he cost peanuts and is a decent player. Useful to have around and could get better.

Agree with hornchurch, his skill is in his pressing and tackling. On the ball its very short sweet and simple

Re: Feghouli will become better.
You watched him ornchurch?
Does a lot more than that. His passing is a lot better than people think and it's always the right pass. Only thing he doesn't do is score. Ran the game without breaking sweat last night.

Can't agree with that. He can play.

Re: Feghouli will become better.
Technique doesn't really matter in midfield anymore.
Look at Kante, runs like a Kenyan athlete and hassles, intercepts and tackles but has little technique. Just knocks it short to those that have.

Vexed 8:23 Tue Mar 7
Re: Feghouli will become better.
I still think he could come good. We don't give players long enough anymore, we'd have fucked Reid off in an instant had he rocked up today. Short term thinking as ever.

Re: Feghouli will become better.
Feghouli had had his best few minutes just before he was subbed. The prior minutes had been poor though
Snodgrass gave a masterclass in giving the ball away and poor decision making.
He made a point of applauding the crowd a lot at the final whistle behind the goal we were attacking.
I suspect it was saying ... I know I was diabolical, thanks for not booing me.

Re: Feghouli will become better.
I thought he was doing a lot better than Snodgrass when he was subbed.

Had a decent shot at goal and was getting on the ball a lot while Snodgrass was doing fuck all.

Still, seems he'll be on his way and I feel we could have got more out of him.

Re: Feghouli will become better.
He looks alot fitter now and seems to try hard.

Doesn't look very strong and spends a lot of time on his arse.

He's a useful squad player at best and that's about all he's ever going to be.

That Kante fellow is pretty good ;-) Or that Dembele or even Schneiderlin (doh!).

Fernandes needs to beef up a bit physically but has good technique. That said, its hard to tell what type of midfielder he is? Box to box or attacking, holding ? I suspect yet another more comfortable moving forward and attacking and not someone to sit alongside Obiang and form the shield that's needed when teams (with pace) counter?

The fastest player in La Liga....

http://www.insidespanishfootball.com/142116/valencias-sofiane-feghouli-is-officially-la-ligas-fastest-player/

he must be playing the long game with his pace over here because he ain't got round too many defences from what I've seen.

Anything else Alf? Anybody spring to mind?

Sir Alf 7:02 Tue Mar 7
Re: Feghouli will become better.
Agree, not good enough on a consistent basis even during one game he can have a good 10 mins then disappear.

DOes not put the work in off the ball, not strong enough, not quick enough and while he has a good cross, the other weaknesses mean he cannot use his best asset.

Byram is another who is not good enough IMO if we want to progress, Kouyate as a midfielder is not the answer again If we want toprogress and Nobes can no longer be an automatic starter every game. Ayew needs to step up too.

We need better to progression and a quality striker, right back and central midfielder alongside Obiang (with pace and athleticism as well as great technique) are priorities.

Or Ciampino.

Re: Feghouli will become better.
Never mind £8m, if Roma offered £8 I'd say "sell!" and pay his airfare to Fiumicino myself.

Alex V 3:12 Tue Mar 7
Re: Feghouli will become better.
I think he genuinely is talented. But that doesn't matter too much if the consistency just isn't there. Valencia is talented too, and couldn't produce either. You have to wash your hands of these players imo. The odds that they will ever hit the heights is just not high enough.

Sven Roeder 3:08 Tue Mar 7
Re: Feghouli will become better.
A luxury player with no luxury.
Just simply not talented enough as a forward threat and too puny to do anything defensively.
Roma wanted to give us £8m or something in Jan. Would take that or near offer in the summer.
There are a whole bunch that need moving on and he is definitely one

Fell over himself attempting a fast turn, then did all subsequent ones with the turning circle of a channel ferry
